Consent model
Coursim is designed to be used in educational settings. Under COPPA's "school authorization" doctrine (FTC guidance, revised 2023), schools may consent to the collection of personal information from students under 13 on behalf of parents, provided the data is used
What we collect from under-13 students
Account information (first name, last initial, classroom identifier); learning activity (answers, time on task, XP); and minimal device metadata (for Service delivery). We do not collect precise geolocation, biometric identifiers, contact lists, or advertising identifiers from students.
What we do not do
We do not show students ads, sell student data, use student data to build advertising profiles, or let students message anyone outside their classroom.
Parental rights
Parents may review, delete, or refuse further collection of their child's personal information by contacting the child's school (which is the appropriate intermediary under COPPA's school-authorized model).
Certification
Coursim is iKeepSafe COPPA-certified, with annual re-certification.
Protecting under-13s isn't a checkbox.
If you're a parent, you can read, export, or delete your child's data any time – self-serve, no phone calls. If you're a school, we handle the consent paperwork with you, not instead of you.
